After having an outstanding rookie season, Luka Doncic is ready to take his Dallas Mavericks to the next level, and he looks confident he can take the team to the postseason, challenging himself to do so.

The Mavs will play in a stacked Western Conference that will feature plenty of teams set to take the Golden State Warriors’ throne and land in the Finals. Next season is going to be brutal, but that doesn’t seem to bother Doncic.

Most predictions have the Mavericks on the outside looking in at the postseason. However, Luka doesn’t see it that way, as he said in a recent interview.

L: I always like to say my plans are to win the championship…
Q: West is going to be stronger than ever…plan has to be to make playoffs first?
L: We will. We’ll make the playoffs. We must. That’s our plan and I think we’ll make it.

Doncic is working to be in better shape next season, and he’s expected to lead Dallas to the postseason alongside Kristaps Porzingis. If they both remain healthy and playing at a good level, the Mavericks have a chance to make the playoffs. Besides these two, Seth Curry, Delon Wright, and Justin Jackson all need to step up in their roles.

The competition is going to be huge next season, with teams like the Clippers, Lakers, Rockets, Jazz, Nuggets, Trail Blazers, and Warriors all set to take it all. There are only 8 playoff spots. It remains to be seen if Doncic can take Dallas to the promised land.
