Former Milan, Juventus boss Fabio Capello had some harsh words towards Romelu Lukaku, Inter Milan’s new player, who landed from Manchester United this summer. According to the veteran manager, Lukaku is a good player but doesn’t belong to the elite.

Capello believes that the new Inter Milan striker, who left Old Trafford for £73 million this summer, is only a decent signing for the Nerazzurri.

“Lukaku is a good player with good movement. He scored two goals, one was a penalty and the other an error from the goalkeeper. He is of use on the field, but is not world-class,” he told Radio Deejay.

Besides the Belgian striker, Inter also landed Alexis Sanchez from United as well. This one, though, Capello believes has the quality to be effective for Inter.

“Sanchez has quality and in some areas of the field, he can make the difference, if he wants to.

“It’s a little like what Franck Ribery did for Fiorentina when he came off the bench against Napoli, he can use his pace.”

Albeit he’s ended the season with a good form, Lukaku hasn’t been exempt of controversies, but this time he didn’t have anything bad. He was subjected to racist abuse by Cagliari supporters on Sunday, claiming that Italian football must combat racism in stadiums if it wants to attract the world’s top players to Serie A.

Playing only his second game in Italy, the Belgian was greeted with monkey chants by fans behind the goal when he stepped up to take a penalty which he converted in Inter’s 2-1 win.
