Andre Iguodala is getting close to the end. And after being traded from the Warriors this past summer, he was hoping to close things out on his own terms. The Grizzlies have different plans.
According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, Memphis is expecting Iguodala to report to training camp and has denied his request for a buyout.
Sources: Memphis wants three-time champion Andre Iguodala to report to training camp and is refusing right now to engage in buyout, which would prevent Iguodala from finishing a Hall of Fame career on his terms because this may be his final NBA season.

Iguodala was traded to Memphis in July from Golden State in an effort by the franchise to ease their financial burden. While many expected Memphis to buy out Iguodala after receiving a 2024 first-round draft pick and buying out Dwight, that doesn’t appear to be the case for now.
Perhaps they hope to use Iggy’s Championship experience as a way to reach some of their younger players. Whatever the case, it will be interesting to see how the situation develops. No doubt, Iguodala has no intention of playing out this upcoming season with the franchise.
