The Chicago Bulls have not been relevant for some time now, ever since they moved on from Jimmy Butler and Derrick Rose. For now, they have to settle at the bottom of the East with a bunch of young players who still do not know how to win yet.
Chicago is a city that is renowned for its winning ways and must return to that position at some point. They have acquired some good players the last few seasons, and it might be time to push them to start winning. The best way to do this is to acquire top talent, to accompany the likes of Kris Dunn, Lauri Markannen, and Zach LaVine.
There is a particular player that was previously drafted by Chicago (2006 Draft), that might be available if Chicago wants to part with its assets.
LaMarcus Aldridge is a bonafide All-Star big man, who is a 20-10 guy on a very consistent basis. Adding Aldridge to this team would greatly improve their chances to move up in the East, and be a challenge in the playoffs.
The Trade Package: Wendall Carter Jr., Denzel Valentine, Thaddeus Young, Chandler Hutchison, and 2 future picks (1st and Second Round) to the Spurs for LaMarcus Aldridge.
Why The Bulls Need This Trade?
The Bulls need a big man to accompany Lauri Markannen in the paint. Wendall Carter Jr. is a great talent, but still needs time to be on the level of Aldridge. Replacing him with Aldridge would give the Bulls a great lineup with Dunn, LaVine, Porter, Markannen, and Aldridge.
The Bulls can have 5 shooters on the court at one time and might be a top 5 seed in a weak Eastern Conference. Aldridge and Markannen are perfect next to each other, as they can space the floor and showcase their length in the paint. The guards Dunn and LaVine will be able to throw the ball into the post and wait for open shots as well. The Bulls must start winning again, and grabbing the Spurs big might be the way to do it.
Why The Spurs Need This Trade?
LaMarcus Aldridge might want a way out of San Antonio and look for a fresh start. Chicago is an attractive city for many star players and Aldridge will have a chance to lead this young team in the Eastern Conference for the first time in his career.
The Spurs also want to acquire young players, and Wendall Carter Jr. is the ideal Spur. He is a modern NBA big who can shoot a bit, and move his feet well to defend. The Spurs can easily begin their rebuild with him, while Valentine is another skilled player who has not been given the room to shine yet. Popovich can definitely get the best out of these two guys, and even get a first-round pick to sweeten the deal.
