Liverpool were a full-steam train during his 3-1 triumph vs. Arsenal a couple of weeks ago, reaffirming their status as one of the world’s best teams and one of the frontrunners to win the English Premier League.
Even Arsenal’s Dani Ceballos had to admit that Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool are on to something special, as he confessed he had never seen a team pressure the way they did and play at such a high-pace:
“I’ve never seen anything like what I saw at Anfield. I haven’t seen a team that plays better, that presses like them, the way the fans carry them along. They take the air from you. You spend so much time defending and when you want to do something with the ball, when you want to breathe, they’re back on top of you. They’re very well-drilled,” the Spaniard told The Guardian.
When asked about if Arsenal could match up to the Reds right now, the former Real Madrid midfielder was humble enough to acknowledge that they’re a couple of steps behind as of today, although he looked very optimistic about Unai Emery’s project:
“We can’t compare it at the moment. We’re working on some similar things, but Jurgen Klopp arrived at Liverpool in 2015. Unai came last season. Arsenal finished a point short of the Champions League and a small step from winning the Europa League; his arrival will be positive. In a few years, Arsenal will be in the top 10 teams globally, competing for everything,” he added.
The Gunners made some interesting moves of their own during the summer to go back to the English Premier League next season and the additions of Nicolas Pepe and Dani Ceballos brought some much-needed new blood to the Emirates Stadium.
Still, there are just a handful of teams in the world that could match up with Jurgen Kloop’s Liverpool right now, so hopefully, Ceballos doesn’t face much criticism from Arsenal fans for his praise to their rivals.
