Knicks rookie RJ Barrett has embraced New York culture in every way possible, including throwing shade towards a former player.

During Bleacher Report’s “Ask Me Anything,” Barrett was asked which player he’d most like to dunk on. The rookie didn’t hesitate to name former Knicks star Kristaps Porzingis.

Kristaps’ departure from the Knicks was messy, to say the least. According to reports, it was him who requested a trade from the Knicks in January after aggressively expressing his displeasure to the front office. He was then traded to the Mavs, who gave the 7-footer a five-year max contract this offseason. There has been bad blood ever since.

While Barrett did not elaborate on his comments, it seems pretty clear that his desire to posterize the 7-foot Latvian has everything to do with exacting revenge for his team.

This season, though, Barrett will be called upon to do a lot more than talk. As the #3 pick in the draft, and the new face of the Knicks, it will be up to him to live up to the high expectations. He seems pretty confident.
