35-year-old Carmelo Anthony has made his failures famous throughout the NBA. Despite most believing he deserves another chance, he remains as an unsigned free agent in mid-September. This “injustice” has made waves throughout the community.
But Carmelo is not the only one. In fact, there are still plenty of recognizable names today who have not yet found an NBA home. Just like Melo, for any number of reasons, these players are struggling to find their next NBA destination. Here is the list for anyone who’s wondering:
For big men, the names include Deyonta Davis, Marcin Gortat, Amir Johnson, Salah Mejri, Joakim Noah, Jason Smith, Tyler Zeller, Ryan Anderson, Marquese Chriss, Dante Cunningham, Kenneth Faried, Jon Leuer, Yante Maten, and Lance Thomas.
Wings include Carmelo Anthony, Justin Anderson, Corey Brewer, Luol Deng, Donte Grantham, Haywood Highsmith, Jalen Jones, Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot, Luc Mbah a Moute, Julian Washburn, Daniel Hamilton, John Jenkins, B.J. Johnson, Daryl Macon, Jodie Meeks, Quincy Pondexter, Thabo Sefolosha, Iman Shumpert, Jonathon Simmons, and J.R. Smith.
Point guards are Isaiah Briscoe, Jose Calderon, Chris Chiozza, Raymond Felton, Jonathan Gibson, Devin Harris, and Walt Lemon Jr.
Among the players listed, nobody in particular stands out from the rest. These players are either old or seriously flawed and there is no guarantee they will be picked up before the start of the 2019-20 campaign.
Still, they all have something to offer. And if a team needs a boost come mid-season grind, or need a push for the playoffs, they might look towards the free-agent market for help.
