Ben Simmons has been drawing a lot of attention this offseason, improving his game to help the Philadelphia 76ers become that dangerous team everyone expects them to be. Some people have high expectations on Simmons and the things he could do with the Sixers next campaign, including Charles Barkley, who made a bold statement about the Australian player and his career.
Barkley has always been outspoken when it comes to point out the things that young players should get better at but also knows when to compliment someone when he feels they deserve it. That’s the case with Simmons, a player he believes has the tools to become an all-time great if he can only work in one weakness of his game.
“I’m a big Ben Simmons fan,” Barkley said. “And I want him to do like Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan. Keep working on his game, become a very good shooter, because if he keeps working on his jump shot, he’s going to be one of the best to ever do it.”
Simmons has been known as one of the most promising young players in the league, and Barkley comments confirm what everybody thinks about him. Last season Jared Dudley called him out because he was good at fast breaks and nothing else.
Ben has been spotted working on his jump shot and even his teammates have claimed he has added this weapon to his arsenal, making the Australian point guard one of the players to be scared of this upcoming season.
We’ll see how that goes through the season, but things look promising for Simmons and his team.
