It looks like Manchester United are already making moves to strengthen their squad in the winter. This season hasn’t started the best way for the Red Devils, and they have started to work to bolster their ranks, trying to things turn around.
They reportedly already have a deal completed for Sporting Lisbon star Bruno Fernandes for the January transfer window. Paul Pogba’s future in Old Trafford is up in the air again given the high contract demands that would lead Manchester to part ways with the Frenchman and see him joining Real Madrid next summer.
They were heavily linked with Fernandes during the summer, but they couldn’t get a deal done for the Portuguese star ultimately, leaving the door open for any other team to steal the talented midfielder. Yet, it looks like they’re not giving up hope on landing Fernandes, with rumors now suggesting the 24-year-old is on his way to Manchester.
According to Don Balon, the Red Devils are ready to bring him in in the middle of the season after agreeing a €70 million deal with Sporting. This could be an upgrade in the midfield, seeing how inconsistent Pogba has been during his time at Old Trafford.
Pogba was linked with Real over the summer, and he stated on more than one occasion that he was ready to face a new challenge. It looks like it’s only a matter of time before we see the World Cup winner leaving United, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and company are ready to the life after Pogba.
Last season Fernandes recorded double figures for goals and assists, and he could be just what Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs to boost his attacking options from midfield.
