Real Madrid’s Martin Odegaard has been marvelous during the beginning of this season, recovering his best form with Real Sociedad, the club where he’s currently on loan from Los Blancos. These good performances have made plenty of teams to turn their heads to Odegaard, especially from the Premier League.
Manchester City and Arsenal are the last two clubs to sign their names on the list of potential suitors for Odegaard, who enchanted the world at the age of 15 years, something that made Madrid sign him without any hesitation.
Despite having struggled in recent seasons, the Norwegian appears to be recovering his best shape with Real Sociedad after bad moments in the Netherlands. Some fans started to call Odegaard a flop given his lack of success as a loanee, but this year that has changed. At the age of 20, he still has things to improve, but people have started to see he can be the start he was expected to become during his teens.
The talented youngster is under contract with Madrid until 2023, but a handful of teams have surfaced showing their interest in the Norwegian. According to El Desmarque, Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has already ‘asked’ about Odegaard as a potential replacement veteran playmaker David Silva at the Etihad Stadium.
Silva is out of contract in the summer and his possible new destinations are new MLS club Inter Miami or boyhood club Las Palmas.
Moreover, City aren’t the only ones chasing Martin, as another Premier League giants, Arsenal, are looking for a replacement for their playmaker. Unai Emery’s side sees Odegaard as a great substitute to Mesut Ozil, a player whose tenure in Arsenal could end as soon as January.
Borussia Dortmund, Inter and even Atletico Madrid have shown their interest in the wonderkid, who wouldn’t leave Real for a cheap price.
Odegaard is young and Madrid could use this guy for the future and decide not to sell him. However, El Desmarques estimates a minimum price of €80 million (£71 million) could be the fee any team interested in the kid would have to pay to land him.
