The Los Angeles Lakers are noticeably thin in the backcourt, with Troy Daniels, Rajon Rondo, Danny Green, and LeBron James being the only guys really capable of playing the point. After the acquisition of Dwight Howard, there isn’t much they could do in terms of signing remaining free agents.

So could they look towards the trade market?

According to Fansided’s Los Angeles Sports Hub on Thursday, there’s a good chance the Lakers will be seeking a trade to bolster their backcourt. Jordan Clarkson could be the target.

“The Lakers would have to include multiple contracts to get this deal to work and could maybe send Rajon Rondo, Jared Dudley and Talen Horton-Tucker as the package if the Rondo experiment does not work and they need a scoring guard, which Clarkson is,” wrote L.A. Sports Hub’s Jason Reed.

It’s a no-lose situation for L.A. They give up low-value contracts in exchange for a sure-fire scoring punch off the bench.

Would it be enough to make a real difference? Well, it depends. If Clarkson can stay in his lane and play the role designated for him, it’d help the Lakers enormously for the upcoming season.

If not, he could be the catalyst for disruption in the locker room.

Regardless, expect L.A. to give the scenario strong consideration before the end of the season.
