Real Madrid and Manchester United are two teams that are going through a bad moment right now. Both Spanish and English sides have already started to plan what they’re going to do in the upcoming transfer windows to bring the players they need to bolster their squads.
Now they might be ready to go against each other for the signing of one of the most promising midfielders in Europe, Donny van de Beek. The Ajax midfielder has been linked with Los Blancos for some time, with the team said to be interested in the youngster as an alternative to Paul Pogba.
According to Don Balon, the Red Devils also showed their interest in Donny, but Ajax’s asking price ended United’s hope to bring him in. They also say that Manchester, just like Madrid, saw van de Beek as a good replacement for Pogba when his future at Old Trafford was in doubt.
It looks like these stories are going to merge next summer, with Madrid and United ready to go to war for the Dutchman in a potential £89 million deal.
If they manage to land van de Beek, United would improve their level drastically. Players like Nemanja Matic, Fred, and Andreas Pereira haven’t had the best start of the season, which has led the club to start looking for alternatives.
In the case of Madrid, with Luka Modric losing his best form and Toni Kroos going the same way, bringing this guy to the Santiago Bernabeu would be great for Los Blancos. We still have to wait if any of them actually pay the fee Ajax is asking for Donny, but the interest is there.
