Manchester United look ready to start making changes that can take the team to the top spots of the Premier League once again. The Red Devils have failed to have good performances this season, as they currently rank 12th in the Premier League scoreboard, just two points ahead of Everton, the third team to be relegated if the season ended today.
All the alarms are on at Old Trafford, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reportedly fearful he could lose his job in the upcoming weeks. The Norwegian boss has failed to find the best lineup to make Manchester United a contender in England, and next week could be the last time we see him on the Red Devils’ bench.
According to the Daily Mail, Solskjaer is afraid that an embarrassing loss to Liverpool after the international break could cost him his job, with executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward facing intense pressure to part ways with the Norwegian.
Moreover, not only fans have lost their faith in Solskjaer, as according to The Sun, several players feel the former striker is not the right man to manage the club. If all of this happens and Solskjaer gets sacked, United have already identified his replacement in Massimiliano Allegri, former Milan and Juventus boss.
Allegri ended his tenure with Juventus at the end of last season and was linked with Barcelona during the summer, but he couldn’t find his way to Catalonia. Now, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, the Serie A multiple-champion is United’s first choice to replace Solskjaer should the Norwegian can’t turn things around and get a good result against Liverpool.
Allegri is a proven winner, at least at a domestic level. He won five straight Serie A titles with Juventus as well as several Coppa Italia trophies.
This might be the guy Manchester need to finally get back to the headlines and become the great team they once were, but we’ve lost the count of how many times we have believed that.
