Cristiano Ronaldo has been the biggest rival of Lionel Messi, as the Portuguese and the Argentinian have competed against each other for every major trophy in the last 14 years, creating one of the biggest rivalries in the history of the sport.
Now, Cristiano has predicted who is going to succeed Messi at Barcelona once the Argentinian striker decides to hang the boots. For CR7, his international teammate Joao Felix will take the reins of Barcelona when Messi calls it quits with the Blaugrana. Messi has been at Barca for almost two decades now, but given his age, 32, he’s sadly approaching the end of his career.
Barcelona won’t have an easy job trying to find a player to fill Messi’s shoes, but it looks like Cristiano offered them unexpected advice on who to sign when the Argentinian is gone. According to Don Balon, the Juventus forward thinks Barca should opt to sign Felix from Atletico Madrid as a future replacement for their talisman.
This move doesn’t sound crazy, as Felix is currently one of the most promising players in the world after the good things he did with Benfica last season. He bagged an impressive total of 20 goals and 11 assists in all competitions for the Eagles, something that prompted Atletico to make a move for him this summer just gone.
Even though he’s struggled to adapt to life in Spain, scoring only three goals in 11 appearances with Los Rojiblancos so far, he’s still young and has a lot to learn. He’s only 19 and has a bright future, so it won’t be a shock if we see Barca going after him in the upcoming years.
