Tottenham are preparing for life without Christian Eriksen, and have set their sights on one of the best midfielders in Europe in recent times. Eriksen has been linked with several teams over the past few weeks and he could leave Tottenham in January, with Tottenham already identifying his replacement.
According to A Bola, the club’s interest in Bruno Fernandes is ‘still alive’ and they will look to go back in for the 25-year-old in January. The Spurs were heavily linked with Fernandes during the summer transfer window, and at some point were considered the frontrunners to get his signature, but that never materialized.
This report notes that a potential move for Eriksen to Madrid could prompt Tottenham to go after Fernandes. The Lillywhites are facing the prospect of seeing Eriksen leaving the club for free next summer, which is why they are so keen to offload the Danish playmaker while they still can get some money in return.
Besides Tottenham, Bruno was linked with several European giants this offseason, but nothing happened with him in the end. Last season was great for him, netting 31 goals in 50 matches with Sporting Lisbon, continuing his good moment this campaign. So far he has scored four goals in six appearances in the Primeira Liga.
This guy has been great for his club and his national side, becoming a regular with Portugal national team, helping them win the Nations League final over the Netherlands back in June. Seeing how bad Tottenham has fared so far this season, bringing in a guy with the moment of Fernandes would solve a lot of problems for them.
Eriksen looks like a player that is on his way out of the club and a change of air may well be the best for him and the North Londoners, who are mightily struggling in the Premier and the Champions League.
