Great news for Manchester United, who aren’t having the most desired start to the season in the Premier League. The Red Devils have reportedly gotten closer to get one of their top targets this past summer in a deal that won’t come cheap for them.
Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly has long been linked with the Red Devils, with Goal recently claiming he was still among their top targets despite the summer signing of Harry Maguire in defense. Diario Gol add that Napoli seems ready to part ways with the Senegalese defender as long as a good offer comes to the table.
The report notes Koulibaly would be willing to move on, especially if that means going to play with one of the biggest clubs in Europe. While Diario Gol state he’s one of Real Madrid’s targets for the next summer transfer window, but Goal suggest Manchester are still eager to land him, even more so knowing he’s seemingly now available for £114 million.
That is a huge amount to pay, but one would imagine Manchester wouldn’t have much trouble doing so, given their recent history in the transfer market. Besides, Koulibaly is one of the best defenders in the world right now, so this investment could serve the club to fix their defensive woes.
Koulibaly, 28, would be a huge upgrade on the likes of Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly, and arguably on Harry Maguire, too, who has failed to convince fans at Old Trafford this first couple of months of competition.
