Having been victimized by injustice over the course of his life, Enes Kanter was one of those appalled by the comments made by LeBron James earlier this week regarding the NBA’s latest scandal with China.
“I think that’s another situation that should stay behind closed doors,” LeBron told the media.
“We all talk about this freedom of speech. Yes, we all do have freedom of speech, but at times there are ramifications for the negative that can happen when you’re not thinking about others and you’re only thinking about yourself,” LeBron said.

Kanter was among the many willing to speak out against the King, and he did not mince words.
-Haven’t seen or talked to my family 5 years
-Jailed my dad
-My siblings can’t find jobs
-Revoked my passport
-International arrest warrant
-My family can’t leave the country
-Got Death Threats everyday
-Got attacked, harassed
-Tried to kidnap me in Indonesia
FREEDOM IS NOT FREE

No doubt, LeBron James is one of many who share that opinion. But the King, being as influential as he is, is receiving the most backlash for his comments.
Kanter and others like him are suffering real-world consequences for their stance and fight against oppressive governments. And, to Kanter, the only right response is to never stop the fight against them, even if there’s money on the line.
