In two and a half seasons in Sacramento, Buddy Hield has become one of the team’s most crucial players in the wake of DeMarcus Cousins’ exit. But almost just as quickly as he rose to fame in Sac-Town, he could be headed right back out of the door.

If Sacramento and Hield can’t agree to an extension by Oct. 21, the former Oklahoma guard would enter restricted free agency next summer with his eyes set on a max contract.

As he suggested via Twitter, the circumstances could make for a not-so-clean breakup.

Hield’s subtle Twitter activity could be a hint that he is willing and ready to leave the Kings if he does not get the contract he feels like he deserves.

Last season, Hield averaged 20.7 points, 5.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists while shooting 45.8 percent from the field, 42.7 percent from beyond the arc and 88.6 percent from the free-throw line. As a core player of the roster, his departure would be one of fatal proportions for Sacramento.

If the team and their front-office has any sense, they’d do whatever it takes to keep their young star from walking this summer.
