Liverpool have been great in recent times, becoming champions of Europe for the sixth time in their history last July, and, unless something extraordinary happens, they will become Premier League champions for the first time ever next year.
Jurgen Klopp and his staff have put together a great squad that features some of the best strikers in the world, including Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane. All his teammates are great, but Mane is the one drawing more attention in recent times with his performances in England and abroad.
The Senegalese striker has done a terrific job that has earned him a lot of praise, including from his rivals. Paris Saint-Germain captain Thiago Silva had nothing but good words towards Mane following an international friendly between Brazil and Senegal, that ended in a 1-1 draw. During that game, Mane earned a penalty for his side, which led Silva to praise him after the encounter.
“Sadio Mane is a world-class player. He is almost perfect. He moves very fast, controls the ball well and is very intelligent in his movements.
“With what he has achieved this year, I think he deserves to be in the discussion for the Ballon d’Or,” Silva said, as quoted by the Liverpool Echo.
There is no doubt that Sadio will be on the Ballon d’Or shortlist this year knowing his impressive form for Liverpool and his national side. He’ll most likely not win the award, but one imagines Sadio at least will be part of the 10 finalists. Still, if he maintains the level he’s been showing so far, it won’t take too much before we see the Senegalese striker winning the longed-for prize.
This Sunday he’ll face Manchester United, hoping to find the net once again and take his Liverpool to take the W against their fiercest rivals.
