Barcelona are ready to go for one of the best footballers in the world right now, in a move that won’t come easy or cheap for the Spanish giants. According to reports, the Blaugrana are lining up a move for Liverpool center-back Virgil van Dijk.

The Dutchman is widely regarded as the best defender in the world at this moment and that hasn’t been unnoticed by the biggest clubs in Europe. Ever since he joined Liverpool, van Dijk has made 84 appearances for the club, scoring eight goals and providing five assists.

Seeing his impressive performances with the Reds, Barcelona are interested in signing van Dijk next summer according to Nacion Futbolera. The 28-year-old’s current contract at Liverpool expires in 2023 and he has a market value of €100 million according to Transfermarkt.

The Catalans currently count on Gerard Pique, Clement Lenglet, Samuel Umtiti, and Jean-Clair Todibo in the middle of the defense. If somehow he lands in Catalonia, Van Dik would undoubtedly start in Ernesto Valverde’s starting lineup and the Blaugrana’s defense would get a huge boost with this guy.

However, no one imagines Liverpool will let this man go just like that. If anybody tries to steal this guy, Jurgen Klopp’s side will ask a massive fee to part ways with him. Virgil has exceeded both in Liverpool and the Dutch national side, becoming one of the best players in the world.

He’ll try to continue his good moment with Liverpool this Sunday in the clash against Manchester United, as Liverpool continue their quest to win the Premier League trophy.
