Kevin Durant has revealed who he thinks is the better player between two of his best former teammates. The Brooklyn Nets small forward said Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry is better than Houston Rockets guard Russell Westbrook.
KD spent a big chunk of his career with Westbrook at the Thunder, before making a shift to Oakland, where he joined Steph and the Warriors. The 2x NBA champion said Curry is a better player than Westbrook because he’s the greatest shooter of all time.
“Who is a better player: Stephen Curry or Russell Westbrook?,” Toronto Raptors big man Serge Ibaka asked Durant on his cooking show.
“Stephen Curry,” Durant said.
When asked why he felt that way, Durant responded, “Cuz he can shoot better.”
These two players have very similar career averages, with Steph posting 23.5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 6.6 assists with the Warriors. On the other hand, Brodie has averaged a triple-double three years in a row, has career numbers of 23.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 8.4 assists.
Even though Russ is going to be remembered as one of the most talented players in the history of the game, Curry is widely regarded as the greatest shooter of all time, which differentiates him from Westbrook.
Durant will have to see these two going at it this season, while he recovers from his Achilles tear, hoping to come back to help the Nets win the title next year.
