Despite being one of the best clubs in Europe right now, Liverpool aren’t settling and have started to look for reinforcements. They have one of the best defenses in the continent, but Jurgen Klopp is reportedly eager for the team to sign two Barcelona defenders.

Reports from Spain suggest the Reds could make a move for Barcelona duo Nelson Semedo and Samuel Umtiti. It doesn’t look like they need to add more pieces in that area of the pitch, but Klopp is said to be keen to have more backups available to him and could surprisingly be prepared to spend some good money to get them.

According to Don Balon, this could take Liverpool to spend a combined £77 million for Semedo and Umtiti, who look like realistic targets due to their difficult moments at the Camp Nou. Ever since he made it from Benfica, Semedo has been unable to exceed with Barca, so it won’t be crazy for Liverpool to go for it, as he’ll only serve as a backup in Anfield.

Semedo’s versatility would be more than welcome in Liverpool, as he can play on both flanks of the pitch, providing help for both Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andrew Robertson.

Umtiti, on the other hand, could get a bigger role in Jurgen Klopp’s side, taking the place of injury-prone Joe Gomez, as well as Dejan Lovren, who is now the fourth choice and haven’t seen a lot of action in recent times. Samuel hasn’t been the best player for Barcelona, either, but he has experience and showed some good things at Catalonia, so this one could be a great addition for the Reds.
