It was a tale of two halves for Portland’s Hassan Whiteside on Thursday night. After letting his counterpart Ivica Zubac go off for 11 points and nine boards while only had scoring points and six rebounds himself, he heard it from the critics who demanded more from the 7-footer.

Namely, it Charles Barkley and Shaq who led the charge against Hassan, showing their disappointment on TNT’s halftime show.

After the game, with a finishing stat-line of 17 points and 19 rebounds, Whiteside felt brave enough to respond with a subtle roast directed towards the NBA legend.

He did have more to say about his performance:

“It was a tale of two halves. I had a bad first half. I had two early fouls, I had two turnovers. I might have had six rebounds.  It was a tough firsthalf, I’m not perfect. I’ve had really good first halves and really bad second halves. I just happen to have a really good second half this time,” he said, per Ben Golliver.

As the Blazers play the second night of their back-to-back tonight, Whiteside will look to stay consistent for the full 48minutes.

The Blazers will need him to if they are to improve their 3-5 record on the season.
