Even though there haven’t been any rumors claiming Luis Suarez is currently unhappy at Barcelona, all professional athletes are always one or two steps ahead of what may happen to them in the future.
And, according to his national team teammate Nicolás Lodeiro, the striker has been intrigued by a move to the MLS for quite some time, claiming it’s just a matter of time before he finally makes a move to the U.S’s top-flight league:
“I think you need to convince Barcelona. He (Suarez) wants to come to MLS. He is always asking me about the league. His dream was to play for Barcelona. He’s playing at a great level and he feels comfortable there. Sooner or later he’ll come to MLS. Well, hopefully! He likes the league. He’s always asking me things about it. Hopefully, he can also play for Seattle Sounders. It may be a more difficult task. I think it’s only a matter of time before he’s out here,” the Uruguayan told MLSoccer.com
Suarez will be tied with the Blaugrana for an extra couple of years, but with them making a huge investment in Antoine Griezmann and Ousmane Dembele, plus the surge of Ansu Fati, it’s only natural to think he’ll lose some ground as years go by.
That happened to David Villa before and he went on to thrive in the U.S for years, so there’s no reason to think Suarez couldn’t follow his footsteps as another former Barcelona standout in the MLS.
Moreover, David Beckham has constantly stated that he’s going to do whatever it takes to bring top-tier talents to his Inter Miami FC, which is about to make his debut next season.
And, with Suarez being such close a friend of Lionel Messi – one of Beckham’s main targets – he might as well orchestrate a move to bring both to U.S soil.
