As one of the most surprising teams of the early season, the Phoenix Suns have a chance to get even better with a big acquisition. According to Zach Frydenlund of Complex, one possible scenario could include the addition of Detroit star Blake Griffin.
“Don’t look now, but the Phoenix Suns might actually be good. Like, we’re not joking, this team is a lot of fun. And while they’re cruising right now, adding another star alongside Devin Booker would go a long way to secure their status in the West going forward. Insert Blake Griffin, who would be a perfect compliment to Booker going forward. For the Pistons, they would get a combination of young players and a first-round pick, while clearing some longterm money.”
Devin Booker has been nothing short of exceptional this season, averaging over 25 points per game as he has led the Suns to a 5-3 record in the West. With the return of Deandre Ayton later in the season (who is serving a 25-game suspension), they will get a boost in a frontcourt that has been dominating the campaign so far.
Blake Griffin could be the piece to get them over the edge. As, arguably, the best power forward in the game, his impact has been monumental for the Pistons. Though he has yet to make his debut this season, he is a career 20-plus point scorer who can stretch the floor, score at the rim, and rebound at a high rate.
With the right offer, Phoenix could add Griffin to an up-and-coming roster to vault their status in the ultra-competitive Western Conference.
