LeBron James and Rui Hachimura are on very different paths of their NBA journey. As a 34-year-old 3x Champ and 4x NBA MVP, Bron isn’t really worried about the thoughts of his peers.
Meanwhile, Hachimura is dreaming of dunking on his childhood idols — including James.
In a chat with Joe Heim of The Washington Post, the Wizards rookie revealed his desire to posterize the King.
Who is a player you dream of dunking on in the NBA?
Oh, I don’t know. [Laughs.] Maybe LeBron [James]?
LeBron? Wow, you’re going right for the king.
Yeah, he’s the top. So, you know, why not?
The 21-year-old was selected in the first round of the 2019 NBA Draft by the Wizards. At 6-foot-8 out of Japan, Hachimura must be fully confident in his leaping abilities if he intends to slam over King James.
For now, though, he will focus on his season ahead with the Wizards. Hachimura is off to a fast start, averaging 13.6 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in 28.5 minutes per game. He is also shooting 49.0 percent from the field, 25.0 percent from behind the 3-point arc, and 87.5 percent from the free-throw line.
While the Wizards will not be competing for a title this year, they can still be somewhat competitive in the East this year. As far as dunking on LeBron James, that pipe dream is probably a long way off from reality.
