Manchester United and Manchester City are reportedly ready to fight for the services of one of the most in-form strikers in Europe right now. These two sides have been linked with moves for strikers in recent times and now they’re set to take their rivalry to different grounds next summer.
Both Manchester sides will reportedly battle it out for the signature of Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez. He’s been just fine for the Nerazzurri, scoring eight goals and providing three assists in 16 appearances across all competitions.
According to the Mirror, Manchester United and Manchester City are both interested in signing the 22-year-old next summer. The report goes further to suggest that he has also been linked to Real Madrid and Barcelona but the two Manchester clubs are more interested in him than anyone at the moment. Martinez has a release clause of €111 million, as per Calciomercato.
Martinez would be a great addition to any of these teams. City needs to boost their attack, even though they count with Sergio Aguero and Gabriel Jesus, while United has mightily struggled this season to score goals a consistent way.
One imagines he would be a better fit for the Red Devils; it would be difficult for him to get as much playing time at the Etihad as he’d get in Old Trafford.
The 22-year-old is one of the most promising strikers in the world right now, so it’s only a matter of time before we see him playing with a different side.
