Manchester United keep looking for options to bolster their attack and there is a player that could be making his way to Old Trafford at the turn of the year.

Of course, they have been linked with several strikers over the last couple of weeks, but this time things are different for the Red Devils, as they’re targeting a former Manchester City asset.

According to Mark Ogden of ESPN, Manchester United are considering a move for Edin Dzeko in the upcoming January transfer window. Mario Mandzukic and Erling Haaland have been two names linked with United, so it’s not a shock if Edin Dzeko is part of their wishlist due to him fitting a similar profile as the other tall, physical strikers.

This summer United were close to striking a deal for Mandzukic before the deal fell apart. However, they have remained interested in the Croatia international, who hasn’t played a single minute with Juventus this campaign.

Dzeko was a member of that Manchester City team that won the Premier League title in the 2011/12 season with a last-gasp by Sergio Aguero. With City, Dzeko went on to score 50 goals in 130 league games for the club.

Now, unlike Mandzukic, Dzeko has been in great form in the Serie A, scoring six goals in 15 appearances so far this season. The Bosnian might still be able to make an impact in the Premier League.

It’s worth noting that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said earlier this month that the club will only make signings in January if they can offer long-term solutions at Old Trafford, something unlikely to happen with Mandzukic or Dzeko.

Moreover, big rumors are suggesting they are ready to go for the signature of Erling Haaland, so it becomes harder to see the Red Devils actually landing one of the veterans.

Still, it is clear that United want a tall, physical Striker to bolster the existing front-line of Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, Daniel James, and Mason Greenwood.
