Forget Damian Lillard, Trae Young, Kyrie Irving, Russell Westbrook, or Kemba Walker. For Tracy McGrady, and no doubt plenty of others in the community, it’s all about Luka.
In just his second season as a pro, Luka Doncic has been nothing short of a superstar this season for the Mavericks.
In a segment on ESPN’s The Jump, McGrady gave some high praise to Luka and what he is doing in Dallas right now.
“With Steph being out. I know Kyrie is out right now. Westbrook is still playing. I’m going to say this: he is the best point guard in the game right now, with Steph being out.”
The 20-year-old star is averaging 29.9 points, 10.6 rebounds, and 9.4 assists per game in the midst of leading the Mavericks to a 9-5 record in the West. He is breaking records and putting on a truly remarkable show.
Luka Doncic is the first player to outscore, outrebound and out-assist a team in a quarter since Allen Iverson on Feb. 19, 2003 against the Bulls.
Doncic did this to the Warriors in the 1st quarter.

Needless to say, he is easily one of the league’s best players and has a pretty solid case for being the best point guard right now. The real question is if this level of play is sustainable.
If it is, and this becomes the new norm for Luka, we could be looking at history in the making here.
