LeBron James and the L.A. Lakers are on a tear this season. With a first-place standing in the West and the best record in the NBA, they appear unstoppable with a quarter of the season behind them.
According to Lakers legend Magic Johnson, this stellar season may even translate into an MVP for the King.
“LeBron this season is averaging 25 points & 11.1 assists making him #1 in assists,” Johnson said.“If he continues at this pace he will definitely be the league MVP this season! No one is playing better than him & what’s scary is his story is still being written!”
With averages of 24.9 points, 11.3 assists, and 7.7 rebounds, James is certainly having another statistically great year. Is it enough to win MVP?
In the West alone, there is steep competition. James Harden is averaging close to 40 points per game, Luka Doncic is breaking records with the Mavericks, and Devin Booker is leading a Suns’ resurgence we haven’t seen in years.
In the midst of it all is Bron and the Lakers. And while they are at the top of the West right now, they will have to stay consistent throughout the season. And, at almost 35-years-old, Bron will have to continue his current pace if he wants to stay ahead in the MVP race.
But with a chance to win the Chip this year, it seems unlikely that his focus is on anything other than what comes in the spring.
