The Miami Heat might have big plans for the 2021 offseason, as they’re reportedly aiming to land big names. The Heat are prioritizing 2021 cap space to chase Giannis Antetokounmpo, with Victor Oladipo among the backup plans, according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.
They told Jimmy Butler this past summer they will be aggressive in trying to land another star in the future. Miami was heavily linked with Washington Wizards All-Star shooting guard Bradley Beal, but he signed a new contract with the capital team. However, Miami could still land him if Washington makes him available via trade.
Now they have more options and Antetokounmpo is the biggest one of all. He signed a four-year, $100 million extension with the Bucks in 2016. Milwaukee can offer Giannis the supermax extension next summer. If he declines it, Antetokounmpo can become an unrestricted free agent in 2021 and the Heat would have a huge opportunity to get one of the best players on earth.
Oladipo, on the other hand, has one season left on his contract with the Indiana Pacers after the 2019-20 season ends. He hasn’t played his first game this campaign due to the injury he suffered last season.
Pat Riley is one of the most aggressive execs in the association and he will try everything to convince the Greek Freak that South Beach is the perfect place for him to continue his career. We still have to wait and see if he’s able to persuade the Bucks star to pair up with Jimmy Butler in Miami.
