Through 15 games of the early season, Brandon Ingram has become an early front-runner for Most Improved Player. With a career-high in almost every statistical category, the former #2 overall pick is having nothing short of a break-out season.

So why is it happening now? According to words by Ingram himself, it may have something to do with re-discovering his joy for the game.

“I lost joy sometimes. I only lost my joy because I felt like I could do more on the basketball court. I felt like I could help a little bit more. I felt like I could have been a little more involved in the offense. I could have been used a little bit better.”

B.I. played for the Lakers from 2016-2019, and was considered to be the face of their young core. Unfortunately, it seems locker-room drama and the arrival of LeBron James prevented him from reaching his full potential.

Evidently, he’s blaming the Lakers at least somewhat for that. And, if nothing else, getting away from there certainly helped him live up to expectations. Hopefully, as the season continues, he can continue to make a name for himself and find a permanent place in New Orleans.
