When talking about the NBA’s biggest names, it’s almost impossible not to mention Larry Bird. As a 12x All-Star, 3x MVP, and 3x NBA Champion, Larry Legend is considered to be one of the greatest players to ever touch a basketball.

In honor of his 63rd birthday (which was yesterday), Warriors coach Steve Kerr made sure to recognize the Bird for what he was: a legend.

Larry was a man ahead of his time. As a team player, brilliant mind, and excellent shooter, his offensive repertoire was one rarely seen back in that day — and not one seen very often now, either.

And although LeBron James may have taken his place among the Mt.Rushmore of stars, Bird’s talent and mastery of the game is not one easily forgotten. For coach Kerr, and no doubt many like him, they’ll never forget what it was like watching him torch their favorite teams.
