Luka Doncic is one of the best young players the league has ever seen. At 20-years-old, in just his second season, Doncic is averaging a near triple-double with 30 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 9.2 assists per game.

Those numbers have drawn a number of comparisons, including some between Luka and the GOAT himself, Michael Jordan.

After putting up at least 20 points, five rebounds, and five assists, Doncic broke Jordan’s record for most consecutive 20-5-5 games (19).

But even in light of his record-breaking performances, Doncic doesn’t want to hear the comparisons.

“There are a lot of stats going on,” Doncic told reporters. “I think it’s a little bit too much [about] stats. You can’t compare anybody to Michael Jordan. He’s one of a kind. Those are just stats.”

The numbers are, of course, the root of these Doncic/MJ comparisons. At 20-years-old, they are two players doing the impossible.

Still, it seems way too early to be talking about MJ. Luka has yet to win a ring, has yet to make an All-Star team, and still has to prove he can sustain his current level of play.

So, let’s hold off on putting Doncic in conversations with Jordan. The Slovenian superstar will have plenty of time for that later.
