Jose Mourinho is ready to add the pieces he needs to take Tottenham to win the English first division title for the first time in over 59 years. The Portuguese boss has been linked with a couple of Serie A players in recent times, but now he’s reportedly targeting Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly.
If you’ve followed them recently, you know Tottenham are scoring plenty of goals under their new boss, but they have defensive issues and have already conceded eight goals in his five matches in charge.
Trying to clarify the picture, El Desmarque claim that Mourinho has already opened talks with Napoli over a deal for Koulibaly in the January window.
Mou was heavily linked with a move for Koulibaly during his stay with Manchester United, but he missed out when a £95 million bid for the player was rejected by Napoli.
There have been testing times in Naples in the last couple of months, with fines handed out to the players after they ignored orders from their controversial owner to stay at the training ground for an intensive retreat amid a poor run of form. This has sparked any kind of rumors surrounding several players, including Koulibaly and a potential move away from the San Paolo Stadio.
Tottenham, meanwhile, kept their first clean sheet under Mourinho against Burnley at the weekend, with their 5-0 win taking them to seventh in the table. Still, they need to make some changes and signing a center-back must be one of their priority goals for the next transfer windows.
