With Kevin Love officially back on the trade block, multiple teams are expected to step up in pursuit of his services.

First in line will, no doubt, be the Portland Trail Blazers, who are currently struggling to keep their heads above the water. With multiple injuries derailing their season, they are expected to seek help in an effort to keep their postseason hopes alive.

While it may seem like a long-off pipe dream, there is actually mutual interest from both sides, as the veteran big man has apparently named the Blazers as his preferred destination.

Love would prefer to play for his hometown Portland Trail Blazers, according to multiple league sources. The Blazers make perfect sense as a destination for Love; they need help for Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum after the team has been decimated by injuries. Last week, Rodney Hood suffered a ruptured left Achilles tendon, joining Jusuf Nurkic (broken leg) and Zach Collins (dislocated left shoulder) on the sideline. Nurkic will return this season, and Love would be a terrific frontcourt partner because of his perimeter shooting and playmaking ability.

Kevin Love grew up in Portland and has ties to the city. Clearly, it’s a place he calls home.

But hie desire to be traded there may go deeper than a homecoming. With Damian Lillard, CJ McCollum, and Jusuf Nurkic, the Blazers are one of the most exciting and player-friendly teams in the league.

And, though they are in the midst of a poor start, they have always been a threat in the Western Conference.

With Kevin Love, they should have the fire-power they need to contend for the next few years to come.
