Fadeaway World

Kevin Love is available for trade talks, and to no one’s surprise, there are quite a few teams interested in his services. Love is currently averaging 15.6 ppg and 10.5 rpg for the Cleveland Cavaliers who are currently 5-18 at the bottom of the conference.

Love’s shooting ability and rebounding is an asset to any team looking for added depth in the frontcourt and potential All-Star addition to a contending team’s starting lineup. After all, Love is a proven winner who is an NBA champion and multiple-time All-Star and is ready for a new change of scenery from the rebuilding Cavs who just aren’t any good.

Here are the best available packages for Kevin Love and the Cavaliers.

Brooklyn Nets

According to Hoops Hype, Love would be a fantastic addition to the Nets. He would reunite with Kyrie Irving in an All-Star pairing, while Kevin Durant would complete the Big Three similar to the 2016 Cavaliers when he returns from injury. Love’s shooting and scoring from the power forward spot would fit very nicely alongside young center Jarrett Allen who spends the majority of his time on the floor cutting to the rim and cleaning up messes.

Love’s shooting will give the Nets an every solid big three temporarily, with both Irving and Dinwiddie balling out as they have been. To make this happen, Brooklyn will have to part ways with DeAndre Jordan, Joe Harris, and Taurean Prince

Portland Trail Blazers

The Blazers have been in a rut so far this season, but have managed to stay afloat thanks to the midseason addition of former exiled star Carmelo Anthony. Melo has done wonders for the team since joining, and a player with Love’s skillset would also translate very well with a team led by two scoring guards.

Love can legitimately average 20 a game gave the opportunity, but his main value comes from spreading the floor at the power forward spot. Love, Melo, McCollum, and Lillard is a very intriguing starting lineup with a lot of scoring.

Portland will have to part ways with Hassan Whiteside, Anfernee Simmons, and a mix of a first-round and second-round pick to make this deal happen. The Cavs will probably entertain the idea of sending Love to the West along with clearing cap space with expiring contracts.

Portland will start Love immediately and hope that his pairing with Melo will work especially with Nurkic back in action.

Phoenix Suns

Phoenix has actually played well this season, despite their star center suspended for PED use. In the meantime, they could certainly use Love’s scoring and rebounding ability to help them push for the playoffs after the All-Star break. Love is a proven winner and champion and would help the young guys win instantly.

Phoenix should not keep waiting to become a good team, and just splash for Love right now. To make this happen, Phoenix will have to send Tyler Johnson (expiring contract), Mikel Bridges, and a future first and second-round pick to the Cavs.

The Cavs will welcome the picks, expiring contract, and a nice young player to build around in Bridges. Bridges seem like a player who can do it all and fits nicely with the Cavs rebuilding plan.

Miami Heat

The Heat are one of the surprising teams in the NBA and are flourishing with their young guys and Jimmy Butler leading the way so far.

As good as they have been so far, they will simply not have enough come playoff time to compete with the likes of Milwaukee and Philadelphia. Adding a second star alongside Butler would change their game and make them more formidable down low, and from the perimeter. Love is a player who does not need many touches and is not a ball-stopper at any means. He is a good locker room guy and will fit alongside the Heat cast very nicely, bringing hustle and skill instantly.

The Heat will have to part ways with both Goran Dragic and Justise Winslow to the Cavs, who would take Winslow as a building piece for the future and Dragic’s expiring contract. Winslow can defend and is also a very good playmaker, so the Cavs might pull the trigger here.

Boston Celtics

The Celtics are a good team, and they are playing like a very good team since the start of the season. Kemba Walker has replaced Kyrie Irving’s offensive production whole the young guys have matured into very capable starting players. Even Gordon Hayward was playing like an All-Star until he went down with a broken hand.

But the Celtics have weaknesses in their frontcourt. After Al Horford went to Philly in the offseason, the Celtics do not have much depth to compensate for his production. Grabbing Kevin Love would greatly help their chances of finishing first in the Eastern Conference and also making a long push into the playoffs with a possible hope of playing in the Finals. Love’s shooting and rebounding would give them similar production to Al Horford last year.

To make this happen, the Celtics would offer either Gordon Hayward or Marcus Smarts, alongside Daniel Theis and future picks. This works for the Cavs because they grab a bonafide started in Smart or Hayward, and valuable picks that can be put towards rebuilding their team in the future.
