Chicago Bulls legend Scottie Pippen has shut down any potential comparison between Michael Jordan and Luka Doncic. It’s common to see people comparing players to the GOAT when they’re having a good moment and Doncic hasn’t been an exception.
For instance, earlier this week, the Dallas Mavericks star passed MJ for the most consecutive games with 20 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists since the NBA/ABA merger in ’76. Besides, Doncic is averaging a near triple-double per game right now (30 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 9.2 assists) which has led people to start making comparisons to Jordan.
This brings us to the moment when Pippen was asked about all these comparisons between his former teammate and the new NBA sensation, but he was quick to turn them down, telling TMZ Sports there is a major difference between the two players.
“He got 6 titles yet?!” Pippen asked with a smirk.
Meanwhile, Luka said something similar to Pippen, also shutting down comparisons while talking with reporters.
“There are a lot of stats going on … I think it’s a little bit too much [about] stats. You can’t compare anybody to Michael Jordan. He’s one of a kind. Those are just stats.”
There you go. Even though Luka is considered one of the best players in the league at this moment, as well as one of the future faces of the NBA, right now he’s far away from being at the same level of Jordan. We’ll see how things went at the end of his career, as this kid has a bright future ahead.
