We’re watching a lot of good things this NBA season, with players making a good case to be considered the best in the league. There are several reasons to argue somebody is the best baller on earth, but ESPN has made a list of the best players this season based on one item they know very well.
The so-called ‘worldwide leader in sport’ has revealed the 10 best players in the association based on Real Plus-Minus. For those who don’t know, Real Plus-Minus (RPM) is the player’s average impact in terms of net point differential per 100 offensive and defensive possessions. That should tell you how serious this is.
This RPM serves to identify the impact a player has had on his team. There are some known names there, but also a couple who have been improving this season to take the spot they have right now.
10. Paul George 4.08 RPM
9. Luka Doncic 4.17 RPM
8. Jimmy Butler 4.77 RPM
7. Pascal Siakam 4.87 RPM
6. Jayson Tatum 4.94 RPM
5. Will Barton 5.43 RPM
4. Kawhi Leonard 5.94 RPM
3. James Harden 7.12 RPM
2. Giannis Antetokounmpo 7.19 RPM
1. LeBron James 8.90 RPM
Those are some big names, but it’s curious to see Will Barton alongside some of the best NBA players. Playing with a great team like the Denver Nuggets could make things easier for him.
Leading the way is LeBron James, who is still ruling the league after 17 years. Bron is, alongside Antetokounmpo and Luka Doncic, the best player in the league and the impact he’s made in the Lakers is the biggest proof of that. His team has a record of 24-3, the best in the whole league.
