There’s been a lot of speculation regarding Paul Pogba’s future since the past campaign, as he and his agent Mino Raiola have been open about his desire to leave the club as soon as possible.
However, there has been little-to-none traction on talks about his possible departure, especially considering he’s been sidelined with an injury since the start of the season.
And just when he finally looked healthy and ready to contribute to Manchester United’s winning cause, coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer confirmed he’ll be forced to go through another spell in the sidelines. Also, he confirmed the news that the Frenchman was advised of having surgery on his injured ankle:
“Three or four weeks maybe, I don’t know. He’s been advised to have an operation by his people and he’ll probably do that. We’ve had scans and it’s nothing major, it’s something that needs to be looked and sorted as soon as possible. We’ve had consultants and the club have looked at him too and that’s what we’ve been advised,” Solskjaer told the media following their loss vs. Arsenal, as quoted by Goal.
The Red Devils have truly missed the World Cup winner this season, as they’ve struggled to find any kind of offensive rhythm whatsoever throughout the campaign.
Pogba has only been able to make eight appearances so far this season and his desire to leave the club will most likely make him take things slowly when it comes to his recovery.
The French midfielder was linked with a move to Real Madrid earlier in the year, but it now seems unlikely that Los Blancos are willing to spend a big buck on a player who hasn’t played regular soccer in months.
As for Manchester United, they’ll be craving some new faces in this January transfer window, as they’re on the verge of missing on the top-four.
