Barcelona are reportedly ready to make a couple of moves to strengthen their squad and there are big names linked with the Blaugrana. The last couple of seasons haven’t been the best for them.
Things are going relatively well again for them this season, as they lead the way in La Liga, remain in contention for domestic trophies and are still in the hunt in the Champions League.
However, they’ve experienced a couple of setbacks over the last two years and several fans believe it’s time to add youth to the squad, as the team keeps aging. According to AS, that process could start this year, as it’s suggested that a long-term replacement for Gerard Pique and up to two attacking players could be targeted in 2020.
Andreas Christensen, Nikola Milenkovic and Diego Carlos are mentioned as possible defensive targets, while Dani Olmo, Neymar, and Lautaro Martinez are mentioned for the attack to complement Ansu Fati who looks ready to have a big role in the starting XI.
Right now they have a couple of players that could lead this process, like Frenkie de Jong and Arthur. Luckily for them, veterans like Luis Suarez, Lionel Messi and Pique have apparently a couple of years to go, so it’s not time to worry for Barca.
These are players who could learn from the vets in the locker room before taking the reins of the team. We’re a couple of months away from the summer transfer window, but Barca have some big plans.
