VAR keeps making headlines for the wrong reasons this season. Not only it raised a lot of criticism in the Premier League, and this time it was at the center of another controversy in Ligue 1 after its involvement in Monaco’s equalizer against Paris Saint-Germain.
It was a very entertaining match, but there is no doubt that Islam Slimani’s strike stole all the attention. The Algerian was stood offside as the ball finds him before he taps it past Keylor Navas. VAR ruled the goal as good, stating that PSG defender Marquinhos played the ball before it dropped to Slimani and allowed the goal to stand.

A great game with a big development ended the worst way. It was a 3-3 result in one of the most entertaining matches of the season.
that VAR call in the PSG game is the most ludicrous thing I have ever seen in my life

Just seen the very worst VAR decision at PSG. Don’t know how you defend anymore.

Neymar put his side ahead early but Monaco’s Gelson Martins quickly netted an equalizer.
Monaco went on to take the lead thanks to Wissam Ben Yedder who scored his 13th goal for the season.
Yet, their lead only lasted 11 minutes as Fode Toure unluckily turned into his own net.
Neymar then gave PSG a 3-2 lead just before half-time after dispatching a penalty past Benjamin Lecomte.
Monaco battled to tie the game and they did thanks to Slimani and his controversial goal.
VAR keeps getting more and more criticism every week and it’s not only in England, now in France, too. Something needs to change if this is the way football is going to be ruled in the future.
