Liverpool are reportedly trying to hijack a potential Manchester United move for a Bundesliga star. The Reds could make a move for German starlet Kai Havertz, who is followed by several top clubs in Europe.
The young talent has established himself as one of the finest players in Europe thanks to his good performances with Bayer Leverkusen. This season, Havertz has scored three goals while providing one assist in 21 appearances across all competitions so far.
Now, according to reports in Germany (as cited by Mundo Deportivo), Liverpool are very interested in the German international and could make a bid of €125 million for him, which would be a club record, breaking the £75 million they paid for Virgil van Dijk in 2018.
But, they aren’t the only club interested in the youngster, with Manchester United also linked, and the Athletic (as cited by Metro) claiming that the Red Devils contacted Bayer Leverkusen regarding his availability, so this is a guy expected to leave Leverkusen to find a bigger challenge somewhere else.
At this moment, Liverpool look like the best option to do so. Manchester is going through some sort of rebuilding project that doesn’t convince their fans and they look ready to continue struggling to find a proper form. Yet, Liverpool count with good players on the midfield, including the likes of James Milner and Georgino Wijnaldum.
Still, this guy has the talent to be good wherever he decides to go, so a move for him doesn’t sound that crazy for the Merseysiders.
