Being confident is one of the keys to having success in life, and that rule applies to the basketball court, too. When you’re feeling yourself, you can do anything you want, even if the task is too heavy to carry out.
That was the case with a young baller who guarded none other than New Orleans Pelicans rookie sensation Zion Williamson when the latter was still in high school. Recently, a video surfaced showing an 8th grader going against Zion with all the confidence in the world, even trying to intimidate the 2020 NBA draft first overall pick.
In the footage, you can see a young boy considerably shorter than Zion trying to get under his skin, as Williamson responded giving him a weird look trying to play down the kid’s attempt to trash talk.
The next play, the ball went to Zion; he couldn’t score and instead went to the free-throw line to get those points.
Even though he got called for the foul, you can say that kid wasn’t afraid of Zion despite being in clear disadvantage. Guarding one of the most hyped NBA rookies in history, with your size and not letting him score has to be a great story to tell your grandkids.
