Paul Pierce is well known for his hot takes and the former Boston Celtic doesn’t seem to be changing his style in the near future. Pierce has gotten used to surprise and upset people with his stance on NBA-related topics, as he started making bold statements as soon as he was hired by ESPN back in 2017 after finishing a very good career.
The Truth wanted to make an instant impact and he did so in a great way. During one of his first appearances with the giant multimedia company. Pierce claimed he would’ve taken Andre Drummond over Anthony in the 2012 NBA draft.

AD was seen as one of the biggest promises in basketball during that year and was the #1 overall pick in that draft. Drummond was selected by the Detroit Pistons with the 9th overall pick.
Their careers have been completely different. Drummond has been a good a player; until February, he had spent his entire NBA career in Detroit, before he was shipped to the Cleveland Cavaliers. He has been one of the best rebounders in the league since he made it, but his offensive game is limited.
As for AD, he’s arguably a top 10 NBA player right now. He spent his first years with the New Orleans Pelicans and was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers last summer. He’s trying to win a championship with the Purple and Gold alongside LeBron James and co.
Pierce really made a good start to his analyst career. That was a pretty bold statement.
