Donovan Mitchell Jr. is not quite the face of the NBA, but his talent and potential, at just 23-years-old, cannot be denied. This past season, for the Utah Jazz (before the hiatus), he was putting up 24.2 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 4.2 assists on 45% shooting.

The dude can score at will just about anywhere on the basketball court and those skills combined with his leadership are a major part of the reason his team finds themselves in the thick of the best competition in the West.

But just how good is the young guard? One front office executive went os far as to compare him with Wade, Curry, and LeBron.

“Donovan Mitchell is on the level of Dwyane Wade, Stephen Curry and LeBron James as far as he can be your leader on and off the court,” a Western Conference executive says. “He can be the face of your franchise. But I don’t know if that can happen with Rudy there because he was the incumbent.”

Obviously Mitchell has yet to prove he can match their production on the stat sheet or ring count, but his voice and vision must be regarded as pretty high if they are drawn in the same breath with that of some of the best players of All-Time.

Unfortunately, the unnamed executive also claimed their success would be stunted so long as Rudy Gobert was still on the roster. The two had a bit of a falling out after Gobert put his entire team at risk of catching COVID-19 back in March.

Still, so long as the Jazz have Mitch and Rudy, they’ll have a chance to do extraordinary things in the West. It’s only a matter of time before we see it for ourselves.
