NBA players and Donald Trump have been going back-and-forth for years now. It’s pretty clear that the basketball community isn’t fond of the Republican leader and they’ve made it sure to voice their political views and concerns over and over.

That has infuriated the President of the United States, who continues to bash the league and its players every single time he has the chance to do it, and last night wasn’t the exception to that rule:

“People are tired of watching the highly political @NBA. Basketball ratings are WAY down, and they won’t be coming back. I hope football and baseball are watching and learning because the same thing will be happening to them. Stand tall for our Country and our Flag!!!” Trump tweeted.

That tweet clearly didn’t fare well among the NBA community and New Orleans Pelicans’ shooting guard Josh Hart summed up his opinion in just three words: ‘What a dumbass’.

Most NBA players are encouraging the rest of Americans to register to vote in the upcoming election. And while they haven’t openly or literally said “don’t vote for Donald Trump”, “vote for Biden”, or “vote Trump out of office”, it’s pretty clear that they’re hoping the former businessman is out of the White House by the end of the year.

Some people have been critical of the NBA’s recent stand. They claim players shouldn’t take matters into their own hands or voice their political views, as we should never mix sports and politics.

However, most of the people are actually lauding the NBA community for their efforts of spreading awareness on the social issues that matter even more than basketball. So we wouldn’t expect this confrontation between Trump and the players to go away any time soon.
