Pascal Siakam didn’t have a very good tenure in the bubble. The Cameroonian big man struggled to find his best game throughout the playoffs and his lowest point came in the Eastern Conference semifinals against the Boston Celtics. Siakam wasn’t anything like the player that led this team to be the #2 seed in the East, only behind the Milwaukee Bucks of Giannis Antetokounmpo.
He received a lot of criticism after his poor performance in the series. Fortunately, he’s part of a team that will always have his back, as Kyle Lowry showed after the game was finished. Pascal took the blame for the Raptors elimination against the Celtics but made it clear that wasn’t giving up and he would try to return in the best possible shape next season.
Siakam: “It’s a learning experience. A lot of people go through these moments and I just feel like it’s about responding. What are you going to get from it? Are you going to take it as a learning experience or are you going to feel sorry for yourself?”

Lowry reflected on Siakam’s performances against the Celtics, explaining the piece of advice he was going to give to the Center. Back in the day, Lowry received the same type of criticism and he used all of that as motivation, which is what he expects Siakam to do.
“When we got swept by the Wizards, I read every single article,” Lowry said, per Josh Lewenberg of TSN. “I read every single thing that was said about me – good, bad, evil, terrible, awesome, and I used it as motivation. And that’s what (Siakam) is going to do. That’s the advice I would give him.”
“I think this is a learning experience,” Lowry continued. “I think it’s only going to make him a better basketball player, a better man, a better everything. And I would not be surprised to see him come back even hungrier and destroying people.”
It would be crazy to say Siakam is not a good player. He actually is and he’s proven that over the last couple of years. If there’s something he’s shown us is that he’ll do everything he can to return in the best shape and will try to lead his team to the Finals once again. Don’t count out Siakam or the Raptors. They’ve already demonstrated that can surprise the world.
