LeBron James is on the verge of winning his 4th NBA Championship, but there are still doubts about what that means for his career and legacy.

Yes, James had played amazingly well over this past season and he is a huge reason why the Lakers are in a position to take the ship this year. But he has leaned heavily on Anthony Davis throughout this run and especially in these playoffs.

So much so, in fact, that some are talking about the possibility of Davis winning Finals MVP over “King” James.

“Anthony Davis might end up winning Finals MVP,” ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith said Monday. “The way Anthony Davis is balling, it is entirely plausible the Los Angeles Lakers march to the Finals and win their Championship. Anthony Davis, who some thought should’ve won DPOY, may end up winning Finals MVP.”

Davis has averaged 28.7 points and 10 rebounds in the playoffs. In this series against Denver, he’s putting up 34 points and 9.5 rebounds per game on 52% shooting.

So, Davis has not only shown he is capable of stepping up in the postseason, he’s showing just how lethal he can be when he’s at the top of his game.

As for LeBron, it might be part of his plan to have A.D. playing like a monster. At 35-years-old, he’s not getting any younger and it might be about time to pass the torch. But, until then, Bron is going to ride the wave and help lead the charge in L.A.’s efforts to bring home their first title since 2010.
