Jamal Murray has become a superstar in the bubble and he’s already talking like one. The Denver Nuggets point guard has taken his game to the next level and he’s not afraid of the challenge of facing the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference Finals.
Murray is so confident in his team that he believes they should up 2-1 against the purple and gold at this moment; following a great 114-106 victory over the Lakers on Tuesday night, Murray explained the Nuggets should be the ones leading the series.
“We had Game 2. I thought we played great in Game 2, we just had a couple of moments that really hurt us,” he told reporters. “So we feel like we should be up 2-1 right now.”
“We have to move on to Game 4 now. In the Clippers series we dropped Game 3, so we have to take care of stuff that we can control. We’ve got to do that if we want to win.”
Game 2 looked like a very good chance for them to beat the Lakers until Anthony Davis hit a game-winning 3-pointer and ended the Nuggets’ hope to tie the series. In Game 3, they didn’t leave any chance for the Lakers and although the Californians got close late in the game, the Nuggets held tight and earned their first victory of the series.
You should never count this team out and this is the biggest sample of why. Murray finished the game with 28 points, 12 assists and two late three-pointers to seal the deal for the Nuggets, who look inspired to face the rest of the series.
